- Mary Glasgow 14-19 Curriculum Prize
Are you doing something new with languages in the 14-19 phase?
You could be eligible for a £5,000 prize from the Mary Glasgow Language Trust. Prizes are awarded annually for outstanding and innovative projects which lead to a higher take-up of language learning between the ages of 14 and 19, and which could serve as inspiration for other schools and colleges. The Trust is particularly interested in projects which are directed at making learning more engaging and successful for young people who would otherwise stop learning a language at 14. Projects should have been running long enough to demonstrate sustainability and successful learning. For further details, please contact Ann King on ann@annking.co.uk. Expressions of interest for the 2009 prize must be received by 31 January 2009 and full applications by 31 March 2009. - The McInally Cup – Nominations invited
Each year the Institute of Linguists Educational Trust presents prizes to candidates and centres for outstanding performance in its examinations. The prizes include the McInally Cup which recognises and rewards innovation and leadership in the field of interpreting. Open to individuals or institutions, the McInally Cup winner is chosen by a panel who now invite nominations; previously unsuccessful nominations can be resubmitted. Please download the nomination form (pdf, 48KB) or find out more from www.nrpsi.co.uk. Nominations should be received by September 1st 2008. - Threlford Memorial Cup – Nominations invited
The Threlford Memorial Cup is awarded by the Institute of Linguists to an individual or organisation that has done most to 'foster the study of languages'. If you know of a person or organisation that deserves to be recognised for their work within language study, please nominate them for the award. The scope of nominees is huge. Past nominees have included football teams, community groups, schools and business/education partnerships. Download the nomination form (pdf, 99KB). The site is illustrated with a unique collection of videos and case studies highlighting how new approaches to language provision can re-engage learners, inspire enjoyment and increase take-up of languages from age 14 onwards.
