About the event
A major national conference focusing on the teaching and learning of languages 14-19, run by CILT, the National Centre for Languages.
As well as keynote sessions on issues of national importance such as languages and the Diplomas, and a panel of experts responding to Language Trends 2008, delegates will have the opportunity to choose from a large number of workshops on a range of topics relevant to 14-19 language teaching. These include interesting sessions on such topics as the new GCSE and A level courses, a range of alternative accreditations and awards to motivate students in KS4, business links, the new Masters in Teaching and Learning and Routes into Languages. There will also be a selection of hands-on ICT sessions facilitated by those who have used ICT successfully in their teaching of MFL.
Who is the Conference for?
The conference is designed for Heads of Languages and languages teachers in the 14-19 sector in secondary, sixth form or FE contexts. Those involved in consultancy and advisory work in languages will also find attendance very beneficial.

Workshops led by current practitioners in schools, sixth form and FE colleges
A wide range of workshops led by practising teachers and lecturers who have achieved success with their 14-19 students in languages and who will share their ideas with delegates. A good mix of workshops gives delegates an opportunity to work with others specialising in their area of interest as well as sharing ideas across sectors.
Hands-on ICT workshops
Throughout the day, delegates will have the opportunity of choosing from several hands-on ICT sessions which will equip them with new skills and ideas to take back to their classrooms.
