Group visits to CILT 
What has CILT to offer?
The facilities at CILT are available to individual visitors, on a drop-in
basis, during our published opening hours throughout the year. However,
it is also possible to arrange a visit to the Centre as a group, with
the opportunity this offers of a formal introduction to the range of CILT's
resources and services. This facility is free of charge.
When?
Visits can normally be accommodated between 10.30am and 5pm, Monday to
Friday.
Who?
Student teachers and their tutors, adult education tutors and coordinators,
language departments in schools, colleges and universities, consortia
of schools, researchers including groups of MA and PhD students.
Many teacher training institutions already arrange annual visits which provide PGCE students with an opportunity to have a formal introduction to the services and facilities CILT has to offer including a guided tour of the resources library. However, we also welcome visits from other types of groups including researchers and teachers whatever sector they work in. Why not take the opportunity to combine a staff development session with a visit to the resources library? Institutions may reserve a table for a group of staff during library opening times and may make use of the library's resources during the course of the session. This could be combined with a formal introduction to the resources and facilities from a member of the library team depending on needs.
How many?
Groups of 10-20 can be received (6-8 if a table is required). Larger numbers can be catered
for in split sessions.
What to expect?
A presentation on the various services offered by CILT and an introduction
to the facilities in the library. Visitors are then free to
use these as appropriate. It is possible to reserve specific resources
(eg IT, video, satellite TV), for use by the
group.
Arranging a visit
Contact group visit bookings to establish possible dates and times, and to discuss any specific requirements. Presentations are offered by prior arrangement between 10.30am and 1pm although afternoons may also be possible. Advance notice of at least four weeks would be appreciated.
