The British Airways Flag Award
The Flag Award for Schools is based on the Internal Flag Tests developed for BA employees. The principle of the certificate is based around the student's ability to converse in the language and is assessed through four different modules.
Part 1: General conversation (4-5 minutes)
The tester uses three topics.
Part 2: Reading
The candidate needs to read four to five lines in the target language (an announcement).
Part 3: Role play (2-5 minutes)
The tester selects 2 flashcards.
The candidate will take the role of the staff member and the tester will be the customer.
Part 4: Listening
The candidate will listen to 5 statements (4 in the target language and 1 in English) and will have to report it to the tester.
Achieving the award
- The minimum pass mark of the test is 40%.
- The minimum pass mark for each module will have to be gained in order to pass the test in its entirety.
- If successful, the student will get BA Flag Award Certificate and a language badge.
