CILT Cymru is delighted to support the European Award for Languages, an award which recognises both the inspirational work of MFL teachers and the positive results of their efforts: young European citizens who are both culturally and linguistically aware of the diversity that surrounds them.

The Centre for Information on Language Teaching and Research (Cymru) is the national centre of expertise on language teaching. Established in 2002 as part of the CILT network, it is supported by grants from the National Assembly for Wales, and aims to collect and disseminate information on all aspects of modern languages and their teaching.

CILT Cymru is based in Cardiff, Bangor and Aberystwyth. It works closely with CILT UK, the University of Wales, ESTYN and ACCAC, amongst other partners.

CILT Cymru's prime objectives are:
·to promote a greater national capability in languages;
·to support the work of all those concerned with language teaching and learning.
