Japanese language tasters Are you interested in arranging a Japanese Language taster at your school? Languages Work Spanish materials A new language-specific area has been developed for the dedicated careers website, Languages Work. Middle East school partnership scheme The British Council has developed a school partnership programme linking schools in the UK with schools in the Middle East. Support for international school partnerships If you have a partner school in China, France, Germany, Japan, Portugal, Russia or Spain you could apply for one of the range of collaborative international activities funded by the British Council. New opportunity for KS2 MFL in the 2006-7 school year Primary schools in England can now apply for grants towards the cost of supply staff when a member of staff undertakes CPD in another European country during term time. New report highlights London's need for language skills A new report Talking world class: The impact of language skills on the London Economy released by Regional Language Network London (RLN) explains why the capital needs to make the most of language skills. A short course for teaching assistants and higher level teaching assistants from NACELL This short course offers a 20 hour introduction to language teaching in primary schools. The Languages Ladder defines competence in a range of linguistic skills for learners of all ages. Implementing MFL entitlement in KS4. This OfSTED report,
commissioned by the DFES and published in June 2005, looks at the
impact of the change from compulsion to entitlement for languages
at KS4. 14-19: Alternative Curriculum Models and Accreditation use this handy Comenius London information sheet on accreditation for the 14-19 sector. E-mail discussion lists. CILT has set up a number of e-mail discussion lists designed to enable language teaching professionals to exchange ideas, discuss issues, share resources etc. There is no charge to join the discussion lists.
