The main Research and statistics pages on the CILT website bring together a wealth of information, including digests of key research in the languages field, statistics and support for researchers. The Languages Trends annual reports from CILT focusing on post-14 language study in England are also featured, including the 2005 report to explore provision for community languages in the UK education system.
Key research highlighted includes papers and projects relating to community and lesser-taught languages, across primary, secondary, further, adult, higher and supplementary education, as well as initial teacher training and children’s workforce development. Statistics regarding languages spoken in the UK population, employment trends and the UK and global economy are also provided.
The Our languages website includes a focus on research, offering a bibliography of useful articles and the 'Our Languages: Teachers in Supplementary Schools and their Aspirations to Teach Community Languages' (LMU, 2008) report. Information on Research: Bilingualism on the website of the National Association for Language Development in the Curriculum (NALDIC) also offers research digests of interest.
