Easy Spanish, Playbusters
Easy Spanish was conceived as a family learning experience in which the teaching of Spanish engages the whole family unit from pre-fives, to older siblings, parents and grandparents. Parents learn Spanish side by side with their child through a variety of fun activities, such as role play, song, dance, games and arts and crafts. It promotes an appreciation of Spanish language and culture across the different age groups.
There is a strong cultural component in the teaching in order to engage learners who might be left cold by more formal learning methods and to bring the language to life. There is also a well established website with on-line support materials. Underpinning the whole project is the recognition that a child who acquires language skills in the first years of life has laid the foundations for lifelong language learning.
Playbusters is a not-for-profit organisation, based in the East-End of Glasgow, working with communities to create leisure and educational projects that are relevant to services users’ lives.
