BBC Active logo

'BBC Active Languages supports the European Award for Languages as it rewards those who contribute so much towards foreign language learning in the UK - and encourages schools, colleges, businesses and other institutions to apply the very highest standards of creativity and excellence in a field which is so vital to the economic and cultural wellbeing of the UK'.

The BBC enjoys a well-earned reputation for producing innovative and informative courses, TV programmes and internet courses and activities that not only enable learners to speak the language of their choice - by recording authentic language as it is actually spoken - but also to learn about the country's customs and culture as well. Together with the TV programmes and dedicated websites, BBC Active Languages publishes a wide range of guides, phrasebooks, all audio CDs and cassettes, short courses, grammars, dictionaries, multiple-media courses and CD-ROMs. BBC Active Languages also provides language teachers with a host of useful additional materials.
