CILT resources
Since the first European Day of Languages, CILT has made resources available to anyone interested in marking the Day and this year is no exception.
CELEBRATE YOUR OWN EDL for just £1.50 for the day!!!!

CILT is making available:
- Thousands of starter resource packs containing two double sided posters, 10 sheets of stickers, pencils and 2 EDL balloons for a small fee of £1.50.
- EDL badges (mixed pack of 50) cost £7.
- T-shirts (5 designs available) can be ordered for £10 each.
- Balloons (pack of 30) cost £4.
- Write to me pens (mixed pack of 20) cost £8.
- Class sets containing 10 posters and 20 sheets of stickers are available for £5.
The posters are a great resource for games and inspiration. They have space to add the 'hello' stickers, along with your own phrases and words. Lots of languages are featured in different places. You can also look for the hidden furry LinguaBats!
Go to the translations page to see what the posters and stickers say.
All CILT’s EDL resources can be ordered via the online shop. P&P will be added to all orders. Please allow five to 14 days for delivery.

Anyone working with teenagers might also be interested in free posters, postcards, factsheets, and other Languages Work goodies designed to highlight to teenagers the advantages of language skills later in life. These can also be ordered from the online shop. Visit our Celebrate, Educate, Appreciate page for ideas on how to use these resources for the day.

Logos
You may wish to use the 2008 EDL logo to promote your event or activity and it is available here in a variety of formats.
Animations
If you love the EDL characters as much as we do,
you might have wondered what it would be like if they could move around.
Wonder no more! Twenty-six favourites have been brought to life.
Pronunciation guide
To help you make the most of the CILT resources we have produced a pronunciation guide. This
is not a phonetic transcription of the 'hellos' or indeed an English
'translation' so there may be other ways of presenting the pronunciations
but hopefully it will help you say hello in all the different
languages,
whether
or not you are familiar with them.

What celebrities speak other languages?
We know that positive role models are really important
and we hope that identifying celebrity linguists will motivate young
learners. CILT has a couple of pages on the website under the heading celebrity linguists which
bring together info on famous people and the languages they speak.
In some cases there are even quotes on the importance of learning
other languages.
If you know of another celebrity to be added to the
list, please let
us know.
