Learning English as a Foreign Language
Information about studying English in the UK is available from the British Council (under "Learning") and English UK. These sites offer advice on study options and opportunities, as well as information on courses, qualifications, institutions, English requirements, visas and travel. The British Council also provides information about learning holiday courses in the UK and about learning English at British Council centres across the world. Relevant information on English courses can also be found through Learn English
Teaching English as a Foreign Language
You will find information and advice about teaching English on the British Council's Teach English web pages. For further information on getting qualified to teach TEFL and TESOL see the pages on TEFL qualifications, or use the course search on the English UK website and search for 'Courses for teachers of English'.
Learning and Teaching Resources
The Central London ELT Library (under the direction of the St Giles Educational Trust) is open to all members of the ELT profession, including visiting teachers from overseas. The ELT library includes a reference section, journals and periodicals, multi-media facilities and samples of the latest materials in English language teaching. The CILT Resources Library collection includes titles on EFL as part of its larger teaching methodology collection. These can also be found through searching the online catalogue. Many resources for teaching English as a Foreign Language can also be found on the World Wide Web.
