Additional funding for schools, including in-service training
A good starting point for this sort of information is Teachernet.
Grants
for schools is a Teachernet page with guidelines for schools on bidding
for lottery funding, European funding and other types of funds.
The
Teachers' International Professional Development (TIPD) programme
provides opportunities for teachers to participate in short term study
visits to other countries and receives annual funding of £3 million
from DCSF. Each Local Education Authority in England has its own allocation
of places.
Bear in mind too, that some overseas courses offered by CILT and by some of its national partners are already part-funded by EU grants, hence the low costs.
Directories and lists of funding sources
Funders Online currently offers a free search facility and the Trustfunding website offers access for subscribers to a database which includes information from the Directory of Social Change (DSC). DSC also publishes directories in print or CD-ROM format including The directory of grant-making trusts, in association with the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). The grants register is published annually by Palgrave Macmillan.
The directory of grant-making trusts and The grants register should be widely available in reference libraries.
European funding
Information on funding available under various European and international programmes is provided on the British Council's website.
Details of EU Lifelong Learning Programme funding in the UK (including Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Lingua, Comenius and
the Transversal Programme) are available on the EU Lifelong Learning Programme webpages and also on the British Council's website.
Information on all grants
and loans from the European Union is published on the Europa server.
Welcome Europe provides information on both public and private funding
in Europe.
