MYLO draws record crowds at BETT

At a recent presentation on MYLO (My Languages Online), speaker Joe Dale attracted a record number of attendees who wanted to find out more about the exciting new language learning resource due to be unveiled in spring.

Visitors to the BETT technology conference in London were keen to learn about all the latest technologies in the field of education, and modern language teachers and heads from around the country were very pleased to see MYLO putting languages at the forefront of these ICT developments.

MYLO, a free resource funded by the DCSF, has been designed in line with the languages ladder to compliment language learning in the curriculum. It seems teachers are determined to make the most of such a big investment in languages, especially at a time when the language world is facing such a challenge in terms of increasing take-up at GCSE and beyond.

MYLO will help engage key stage 3 pupils with French, German, Spanish and Mandarin, by encouraging them to be more creative in their learning – and by incorporating elements of computer gaming and social networking that will allow them to compete against their peers and be part of an online community.

Teachers and schools are being encouraged to sign-up early to ensure that MYLO is available for them to use in March this year. For more information visit the MYLO preview site.
