The number of daily visitors to languages website MYLO has
doubled in under a month. Over 2000 users flocked to the site on
Friday alone to take advantage of this free resource for teenaged
language learners.
The boost in visitor numbers follows great reviews of MYLO on
websites including
Merlin John Online, Languages Today and the
Good Web Guide, who described “MYLO as innovative...clear and
easy to use.”
The word is also getting around on Twitter. @mme_henderson said
“My students really enjoyed MYLO in the computer lab today!”
Meanwhile, @msmfl tried MYLO with her bottom year 9 set and
tweeted: “Amazing response! Usually revolting kids even asked ‘can
you set it for homework, Miss’.
Lightbox - the creators of MYLO - have created a
Quick Start Guide to show these new visitors how to register
for the website. Registering gives users access to innovative
features such as personalised avatars and the ability to monitor
progress, collaborate and publish work. Registering also allows
students to compete against each other or even against other
schools.
New material is being added to MYLO all the time, with two new
German challenges coming out in the last week. In Riding the
Giant, students learn how to write a theme park review
for a German website while in Graffiti
Trail students create an online art guide showcasing the best
Graffiti in Berlin.
