In 2007 the Department of Education in Northern Ireland (DENI) asked the Subject Centre for Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies in Northern Ireland to make recommendations to inform an eventual languages strategy.

The research and consultation team reported to DENI in late 2008.  The report and recommendations are not yet in the public domain.
