Education and training work programme 2010 (European Commission, 2001)

The jointly agreed programme of strategic actions has 4 priorities:

1. Making lifelong learning and mobility a reality;
2. Improving the quality and efficiency of education and training;
3. Promoting equity, social cohesion and active citizenship;
4. Enhancing creativity and innovation, including entrepreneurship, at all levels of education and training.

All of these have resonance for language learning and teaching. 

Benchmark targets are set for achievement by 2010 and 2020.
