Revised guidance on disapplication of the National Curriculum at Key Stage 4 for specific purposes under Section 363 of the Education Act 1996 (Department for Education and Skills (DfES), September 2002)

The first formal authorisation of disapplication, for individual pupils, from languages in Key Stage 4:

Paragraph 3.3

'... Up to two National Curriculum subjects may be disapplied for any one pupil. For extended work-related learning, design and technology, modern foreign languages and science may be disapplied. For curriculum emphasis and consolidated learning, design and technology and modern foreign languages may be disapplied. ...'
