Association for Applied Linguistics (BAAL)
BAAL is a professional association based in the UK, which provides
a forum for people interested in language and the applications of
linguistics. BAAL is an affiliate of AILA (the International
Association of Applied Linguistics).
To meet particular applied linguistics needs, members of BAAL
have set up several Special Interest Groups
(SIGs).
European Language
Council
The European Language Council is an independent association whose
main aim is the quantitative and qualitative improvement of
knowledge of the languages and cultures of the European Union and

European Centre for Modern
Languages
The European Centre for Modern Languages (ECML) is a unique
institution that was established in 1995 to encourage excellence
and innovation in language teaching. It shares CILT’s core values
around the importance of understanding and communicating with one
another across borders, and is an important catalyst for
reform.
The Linguist
List
The LINGUIST List is dedicated to providing information on language
and language analysis, and to providing the discipline of
linguistics with the infrastructure necessary to function in the
digital world. Get the latest information on conferences,

world of linguistics and applied linguistics.
Association
for Language Learning (ALL)
The Association for Language Learning is the UK's major subject
association for teachers of foreign languages. ALL is committed to
the professional development of teachers of languages and the
promotion of language learning and teaching.
Subject Centre for
Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies (LLAS)
The Subject Centre for Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies one
of 24 Subject Centres funded by the Higher Education Academy. Its
primary aim is to support learning and teaching of
Languages,Linguistics and Area Studies across UK Higher
Education.
University Council of
Modern Languages (UCML)
UCML represents the interests of modern languages, linguistics and
cultural and area studies in higher education throughout the United
Kingdom, and works with corresponding bodies in other
countries.
