Incremental change to the NOS in Interpreting – Units for Trainee Interpreters

CILT has recently undergone a period of consultation on proposed units for trainee interpreters. This addition to the NOS in Interpreting is intended to strengthen the progression routes into the profession, providing a much needed step on the road to becoming a professional interpreter.

Between November 2009 and March 2010, CILT consulted a range of employers, practitioners, training providers and other stakeholders in the interpreting community, including awarding bodies and academics in the field. The responses to the consultation were extremely constructive and have helped to shape units to support a trainee level qualification. CILT would like to thank all those who took part in the consultation and contributed to the discussions.

The Standards were submitted to the UKCES and approved June 2010. You can view the units and the supporting documentation by downloading it here. (pdf, 433kb)
