Children in primary schools across Liverpool have been getting a
head start in
French, German and Spanish as part of this innovative primary
languages project.
The initiative, which also receives the EuroTalk Primary Languages
Special Prize,
aims to give teachers, nursery nurses and classroom assistants the
skills they need to
bring languages to life in their schools.
Advisory teachers and Foreign Language Assistants work with
class teachers in participating schools to provide up to 90 minutes
of language learning each week, with parents invited to learn
alongside their children or join staff at weekly sessions.
International links, advice, training and support combine to create
the language classes, described by the judges as ‘exemplary in
pace, challenge and content’.
