Clwb Cymdeithasu Cymraeg C3, Welsh For Adults, Lifelong Learning, Prifysgol Bangor University
The Welsh language social group, C3, was
formed to enable Welsh speakers in the Mold area to improve their
language skills by working with native speakers of the language.
The organisers of the group are committed to creating links with
other societies and social groups and are always looking out for
new opportunities to practise with the local Welsh-speaking
community.
Each year the organisers of C3 put on a hugely
varied programme of events, such as theatre visits, quizzes, walks,
salsa evenings and football matches, giving members the opportunity
to meet and socialise with other Welsh speakers outside of a usual
classroom context. This exciting project offers learners the chance
to improve their language skills in real situations.
Both the organisers and the learners are
hugely enthusiastic about the project and this has ensured the
success of the group. The group is always attracting new members
and native speakers find that they get just as much out of the
experience as the learners. Members of the group include fluent
speakers of Welsh, intermediate level learners and former students
who are keen to practise their language outside of the classroom.
The key is to ensure that the level of language is suitable for
learners whilst keeping fluent speakers engaged and interested.
