In addition to those projects receiving a
European Award for Languages this year, the judging panel would
like to recognise the work of the following projects:
The Passport to export UKTI
International trade competition
The Thomas Hardye
School, Dorchester
This project saw budding young entrepreneurs
in Year 11 pitching their business ideas to a panel of experts in
France as part of a competition designed to develop students’
language skills in a business context.
Marie Curie and the discovery of
radium
Théâtre Sans
Frontières (TSF), Centre for Life, Newcastle (LIFE), Hexham
Middle School, Corbrdige Middle School, Valley Gardens Middle
School, Whitley Bay
This innovative project combines French
language, science activities and drama role play in a day of
discovery at the Centre for Life in Newcastle. Inquisitive Year 8
students were given the opportunity to step back in time to Paris
1898 and, taking on the role of Polish scientists, they explored
the life and work of Marie Curie.
Languages on
film
The University of
Brighton
Pupils from local schools in Brighton have
been getting a taste of the movie business. They have been working
with undergraduates from the University of Brighton to produce
creative film clips in German, French and Spanish as part of this
motivating project which demonstrates how languages can be embedded
into other areas of the curriculum.
