The Languages Work Pledge is
designed to raise awareness of the value of language learning and
intercultural understanding and encourage support for this area of
learning – from business, education and policy makers.
So far nearly 650 people have signed up to the
pledge and we want to keep on increasing this number to gain the
maximum amount of support for languages.
When you sign the Languages Work Pledge you
will join the ever increasing number of supporters who believe that
every young person should leave school with the ability to
communicate in more than one language and have an appreciation of
other cultures.
There’s a very good reason why languages are
important now more so than ever, in fact there are several reasons,
including:
- More and more companies are
looking for staff with an understanding of other cultures
- There are increasing
opportunities for those able to communicate in another
language
- Young people from other
countries are able to compete for jobs because they have excellent
standards of English as well as other languages.
There are many big names who have already
signed the Languages Work Pledge including HSBC, Arsenal FC,
Rosetta Stone, British Airways and British Chambers of Commerce, so
why not join them?
