LinkedUp funding encourages schools and businesses to unite in support of languages

Would your school like to work with local businesses to help students get more out of their language learning?

Would your business like to collaborate with schools in your area to engage pupils in fun, rewarding activities that inspire them to become the business linguists of the future?

The LinkedUp Scheme, in collaboration with CILT the National Centre for Languages, is looking for schools, colleges and businesses who would like to work together to benefit language learners, develop new approaches to language teaching and create employer links.

Whether you are already working with a Business Language Champion/s and want to expand on previous activities or have some projects in the pipeline but require funding to get things off the ground, each LinkedUp project receives £3,000, which can pay for teachers' time, travel expenses, pupil resources and employers' time.

If you want to take advantage of this opportunity you need to get your skates on as the next deadline for applications is 23 April 2010.

The project targets Key Stage 3 pupils as it aims to encourage them to study languages at GCSE level and beyond.  Any school, college, university, local authority, business or other organisation can apply for this LinkedUp award.

To find out more or for help with the application process please contact Kathy Wickstead on 01858 575864 or visit the Links into Languages website.
