A colleague pointed out news of an innovative business
language partnership to me this morning and I thought I would share
it on this blog as it brings languages, sport and business together
through their common skills and aims.
Bradford City FC and St Bede’s School have
been working together since 2008 to benefit both organisations by
teaching students not only language and enterprise skills but also
giving them an understanding of and pride in their Club and their
community.
The Club have provided guided tours of their
facilities and allowed their players to be interviewed by students
and in return the school have put on Spanish lessons for
players.
This just goes to show that sport and
languages make a perfect combination and a result of this ongoing
partnership, local primary schools will also enjoy a mixture of
football coaching and language lessons, this summer, provided
jointly by the Club and the school's languages department.
