Welcome to the Business Language Champions blog!

BLC logoBusiness Language Champions (BLC) supports employers to work with schools to help young people understand the benefits of learning a foreign language and enable them to compete successfully in a competitive global economy.

Many businesses and schools have already benefited from participating in the workshops, presentations, site visits and competitions offered through the programme but we want to make BLC an even bigger success…and to do that we need you!

Whether you are actively involved in Business Language Champions or have just stopped by to find inspiration for your own language projects, we want to hear what you have to say:

Business Language Champions – we want to hear your feedback on BLC events.

  • Teachers: We’d like to hear about the impact BLC events have had on your students and what you’d like to see from the programme in the future.
  • Students: We’d like to know how your BLCs have inspired you.
  • BLC Project Managers: We’d like you to share your tips on what works well.
  • New to BLC?  We hope this BLC blog will inform, interest and inspire you.

Thanks for keeping us posted, Danielle.  This sounds like a really exciting project and I hope the students enjoyed it.  Do let us know how the group visit goes next week.

the MFL dept have teamed up with the Met police to embark on a project to promote language learning in school and highligh the importance of speaking a foreign language for future careers.
on tuesday 23 February mr yilmaz and his yr 11 turkish GCSE class took part in a speed date session with several members of the Met police to gain an insight into the various roles and career opportunites available to them. they followed up with reinacting role plays in which they needed to draw upon their language expertise to resolve potential problems between the police and the general public.
thanks go to Tony Cox and eilif from the Met police for their parts in organising the successful sessions. next week the group will visit go behind the scenes at the Empress State Building. find out in the next issue how it goes.
