Information for Lead Professionals and Lead Schools
The following information is aimed at Local Authority Lead Professionals and the Lead Teacher of the Strategic Learning Networks (SLN).
Phase one (2007-8) evaluation new Feb '08
In preparation for Phase 2, CILT and the SNS request that all Strategic Learning Networks carry out an evaluation of their work to date. This provides an opportunity for the members of each SLN to revisit the Phase 1 action plan and reflect on the impact of SLN activity. We are particularly interested in how the work of each SLN had (measurable) impact on pupil achievement.
Download the evaluation questionnaire (doc, 280KB).
We have requested that Lead Teachers carry the evaluation out in consultation with all members of the SLN before returning a copy to the relevant Regional Trainer by 31 March 2008.
Phase two (2008-9) action plan new Feb '08
All SLNs are requested to submit an action plan for Phase 2 to help the SLN maintain a clear focus on the main purposes of the Programme. In most instances it is not expected that an SLN will undertake a wholesale rewriting of the Phase 1 action plan.

Phase 2 action plans should be agreed with the headteacher from the Lead School as well as Local Authority Lead Professionals before being submitted to the relevant Regional Trainer. The deadline for receiving completed plans is 9 June 2008.
The Lead Teacher guidance document (doc, 307KB) aims to provide advice and support for Lead Teachers in MFL Strategic Learning Networks. It examines some of the issues that may arise for Lead Teachers as they work with a group of MFL teachers from other schools and how they can organise the activities they have planned for the SLN, including a possible agenda for a launch meeting for the network.
