European Day of Languages lasts a week

On September 26th 2006, Impington Village College celebrated the European Day of Languages and turned it into a week of languages. Below are some of the highlights:

  • Posters provided by CILT were displayed throughout the MFL department and in school. They were also used to play board games across the key stages. We also had a range of displays (facts and photos about various European countries) in our main corridor.
  • Badges were used as treats or gifts, some of our sixth formers are still wearing them!
  • We organised a competition where students had to guess / ask what languages non language-teaching staff (including our numerous "linguaphile" teaching assistants) could speak (a colleague organised a survey a week before).

On the 26th and the 27th we had a big sale of cakes and savoury food, all cooked, baked (or bought!) by the department. It was all very successful, especially the waffle stand. Our two CILT GTP trainees are in the pictures!

Thanks again for providing us with posters, badges and ideas, we are all looking forward to the next EDL at Impington Village College!
