The Technology Workshop
As part of Wymondham College’s annual Technology Day, Year 8 pupils produced childrens’ toys in our International Workshop. The activity, which was devised by Kate Finlay, SSAT Lead Practitioner in Design Technology and Jeremy Moyle, Language College Director, was conducted entirely in a mixture of French, German and Spanish and saw pupils working on a production line to produce musical frogs and footballs.

The technology room was transformed into the International Workshop with the aid of multi-lingual hazard and safety signs, international radio stations and our FLAs acting as factory supervisors. Pupils followed a series of written and spoken instructions to play an active part in the production line with each pupil being able to keep a toy. One girl was even heard to say “I never realised languages could be so much fun!”
