Finding a Course

This section will help you to find the language course that is ideal for you, at whatever level, whatever your motivation for learning languages.

Learndirect

The learndirect website includes information on over 900,000 courses in all subjects, including languages, throughout the UK in an online database. If you choose the advanced search option you can search by area and by type of course. The subject keyword is the name of the language you wish to study.

UCAS

The University and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) handles undergraduate applications to study at university. The website has a really useful course search feature. When searching, try a few different techniques e.g. search for 'modern languages' or for the specific language you want to study, particularly if it is not French, German or Spanish.

If you are interested in another subject e.g. business studies try searching for that and see what options with languages come up. You can also search regionally.

Course Guides

For details of additional guides to courses in adult and further education, some of which is held in public libraries, go to the course guides page.

Ploteus

The Portal on Learning Opportunities throughout the European Space (PLOTEUS) will help you find out about education and training available throughout Europe.

Course Discover

Course Discover is a subscription based, national database of further education, undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Database includes details of bilingual secretary courses.
