CILT, the National Centre for Languages is pleased to announce the publication of the new

edition of Games talk to serve as a reference during the build up to the London Olympics in

2012.

 

This language planning book by Professor Joseph Lo Bianco, currently working at the University of Melbourne, outlines the preparations, strategies and planning for language provision undertaken by the Language Service Program for the Sydney Olympic and Paralympic Games in the run-up to and during the 2000 Games.

 

It describes the Language Service Program’s areas of responsibility, including conference and press interpretation; translation of official publications, and support for visitors and competitors. It also included details of and the roles of the staff and volunteer linguists involved, including case studies of a range of volunteers.
