Free one day conference for Community Languages
This year’s free community languages conference, 'Active teaching and learning: Practical ideas for the community languages classroom', will be taking place from 10am to 3.30pm on Saturday 2 February. The conference is hosted by CILT, Comenius West Midlands and Wolverhampton City Council and will take place at the Jennie Lee Centre in Wolverhampton.
Teachers of community languages from both maintained and supplementary or complementary schools, primary and secondary, can select from an excellent programme of practical workshops. There will also be updates on recent languages developments, entertainment by local pupils, personal advice for those considering Qualified Teacher Status, publisher exhibits and the chance to win resources for your school. Teachers of any language are welcome. A free lunch is provided.
Conference topics include:
- using song to support and enhance learning
- using drama to enthuse and engage students
- basic skills and ideas for using MS PowerPoint
- using digital video to involve students in their learning
- practical approaches to assessment and supporting students' progress
- information about languages in Key Stage 2
- interactive activities for KS2 classrooms
- working with supplementary schools
