Asset Languages is a flexible assessment scheme for learners of
all ages and abilities that rewards the four areas of language
learning (listening, speaking, reading and writing).
Assessment is based on the 'can-do' statements of the DCSF
Languages Ladder.
The scheme offers a combination of teacher and external
assessment. Each skill is assessed separately and certificates are
awarded for achievement in individual skill areas.
External assessment leads
to nationally recognised qualifications, with associated
achievement and attainment table points. Five assessment
series throughout the year mean that tests can be scheduled to suit
the learners.
Teacher assessment leads to informal grade award certificates
which provide short-term motivational goals.
