recognised as a
High Performing Specialist School and has been

Languages as part of the Additional Specialist Learning (ASL). The
course will begin in June 2009.
Lines of Learning
Creative and Media
(Higher Diploma)
Student group
The group studying the
Creative and Media Diploma at Higher Level are following this
course over two years in KS4.
Model for Languages in Additional/Specialist
Learning
The school has introduced Asset Languages
into the Diploma ASL. This is timetabled with Post 16 Enrichment so
that this course has a mixture of Year 10, 12 and 13 students
working together.
The Principal Learning part of the Diploma is delivered all day
on a Friday, the ASL is timetabled on a Tuesday afternoon and the
Generic Learning is timetabled on a Wednesday morning.
Issues/tips
It is hoped to provide
transportation in the consortium for students involved in the
Diploma programme so that different aspects of the course can be
delivered in different establishments.
Impact on learners
Asset Languages complements Diploma and Post 16 learning in our
curriculum. The course enables students to gain a useful
qualification and further develop their interest and skills in
learning languages.
Impact on teachers
One or two teachers are
involved in this new initiative and have had to be familiarised
with the Diploma
