Sample schemes of work and matching materials have been
developed by CILT in partnership with Language Networks for
Excellence (LnfE) and International Business Communication
(IBC) for all of the first ten Diplomas. The first five
Diplomas (Construction and the Built Environment, ICT, Creative and
Media, Engineering and Society Health and Development) have already
been on offer in schools and colleges around the country since
September 2008. The next five (Manufacturing and Product
Design, Hospitality, Business Administration and Finance,
Environmental and Landbased and Hair and Beauty) have been taught
since September 2009.
These Schemes of Work have been developed to give tutors an idea of
how a language element could be included within the
additional/specialist learning section of one of the new Diplomas.
They are short programmes of study which can be used with any
language qualification which can be taught within the
additional/specialist component of a Diploma. The schemes of work
explain clearly the rationale and how to use the materials with
students.
The schemes of work and materials are located on CILT’s
Vocational Languages Resource Bank and can be located by selecting
