Clips from this GCSE Spanish lesson show how the teacher has
differentiated to make the content accessible to the whole
class.
Preparing for and carrying out a speaking activity in
pairs
Following a listening activity where the students are provided
with differentiated worksheets to enable them to access the
material, the students then prepare a speaking activity in pair on
the topic of illness.
Firstly the teacher introduces new language for remedies for
different illnesses.
A framework is then provided for the dialogue to support the
less able and the more able students are able to extend on this to
include further details. The teacher provides support on the
whiteboard which is differentiated and allows the students to
select which level they think they are at.
The teacher relates this to the GCSE oral examination and
highlights the differences between Foundation and Higher Tier.
Students then begin preparing a dialogue.
