Channel 4 Extra CD-ROM
Aimed at KS4 pupils, there are three CD-Rom Extr@ CD-Roms each in
French, Spanish and German, which complement the Channel Four TV
series in which four 19–22 year olds are thrown together to play
out their romances and crises in a sitcom setting similar to
'Friends'. A fundamental complication in their relationship is that
one of the four, Sam, is an American visitor with only a very basic
grasp of the featured language. Sam's efforts to get to grips with
the language provide the central dynamic for the language learning
content. Extr@ has been written so that the language is simple and
accessible at all levels and can be used alongside all KS4
published resources. Features include work sheets which are
integrated into the CD-Roms, video footage dramatises the key
learning points, interactive transcripts with links to audio/text
glossary and the option of subtitles. http://www.4learningshop.co.uk/
Task Magic
Task Magic is authoring software
for creating interactive lesson content. It is a really quick and
easy way for teachers to create a whole range of presentation and
practice activities in just a few minutes. After putting in a list
of vocabulary and sentences the software create 15 different games
such as table football, aliens, pool as well as more traditional
drag and drop activities. These games are very motivating, and have
the advantage that they are not language-specific and the teacher
can use it to practise the particular language that is being
covered.
