CILT works to support community languages within all sectors of education and hosts a cross-phase national conference on community languages each summer. Our Languages
Supplementary and maintained schools teaching Community Languages are forging partnerships to model good practice, add to community cohesion, celebrate pupil achievement and promote plurilingualism. Nine schools are involved in the pilot programme and many more have contributed case studies.

Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP)
The CILT GTP gives native speakers of French, Spanish and German the opportunity to train to teach in English secondary schools. It is a one year programme for graduates, particularly those with some experience of teaching, for example as a foreign language assistant. |

Initial Teacher Training (ITT) MFL
ITT MFL provides web-based subject support for MFL tutors and mentors through introducing trainers to current thinking, research and professional networks and providing practical support materials. |

Languages ICT
This website offers ideas, information and guidance on the use of ICT for teaching and learning languages in the schools sector, with termly news updates, case studies and downloadable ideas sheets. As part of this initiative, the Languages ICT Action Research Project supports secondary teachers in reflecting on their use of ICT in the classroom and understanding its impact on pupils’ learning. |

CILT Conferences and events
CILT works directly with practising teachers to produce a comprehensive
programme of conferences and training events for classroom teachers
across all sectors of language teaching. For the first time, CILT and Comenius CPD opportunities are listed together.

CILT Books
In common with other CILT services, our publications cover the full
range of language teaching interests. We pride ourselves on our coverage
of current issues and debates as well as on the practical advice and
support our publications provide for teachers in the classroom. |

Secondary Languages Direct
Colleagues can now sign up for the new free ezine. It is published three times a year and is full of links to new articles describing innovative practice in the secondary sector, covering issues from transition KS2-3 to the new diplomas. It will also alert you to new publications, opportunities for CPD and information about new projects at CILT. You could be featured in future ezines, details of how to submit a proposal are included in each issue.
Secondary Languages Direct is replacing the MFL bulletin. An archive of the MFL bulletins exists, from which each bulletin is available to download as a PDF. |

Linguanet forum
The linguanet-forum is an e-mail discussion group for all those involved
in language teaching and research. The aim of the forum is to enable
discussion and information exchange on the subject of the teaching of
modern foreign languages, primarily in schools and sixth forms in the
UK. |
