CILT Support

How does CILT support Language Colleges as hubs of excellence?
Language College
CILT gives targeted support to individual Language Colleges as part of the Language College support programme. As Language Colleges come on stream CILT, through its team of information officers and Language Teaching Advisors, can give support on curricular, methodological, resourcing and professional issues.

  • CILT supports regional seminars hosted by Language Colleges to disseminate effective practice, keeping colleagues abreast of current curriculum change and seeding new ideas.
  • National conferences give the opportunity to disseminate innovative practice in Language Colleges to all schools.
  • Early Language Learning - Approximately 200 Language Colleges and their primary school partners are involved in the CILT ELL-LC project to support and extend excellent provision in primary MFL.
  • Language Colleges in their specific role of disseminators and multipliers of effective practice are encouraged to take part in a wide range of opportunities that CILT provides for Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Also visit the CILT Secondary pages for more ideas about how CILT can support your school.

Regional events focussing on primary languages co-ordinated by SLCs

CILT supports SLCs in sharing good practice with other schools in the local area. This includes supporting feeder primary schools in delivering language learning for primary pupils and assistance for primary teachers who are new to language teaching.

CILT supports SLCs in their local seminars and training events. Below are some ideas from previous events which may be of interest. Early language learning - discussion topics
