Project leader: Jim McElwee (Redcar and Cleveland Local
Authority)
Key areas of
work
The project is based on the hypothesis that English and
French notions about each other’s culture are 50 years out of date.
The partners decided to pursue this idea and create materials that
would allow young people to consider the ways in which their own
culture and heritage have changed since the war.
What things remain constant that would allow
us to describe 'English culture'? At the same time we would look at
the ways in which France has changed over the same period, again
trying to see what might be described as 'French
culture'.
