Here at CILT we are very proud to offer a Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP) which gives native speakers of French, Spanish and German the opportunity to train to teach in English secondary schools.
We work closely with the British Council, in collaboration with European partners, to recruit graduates who are native speakers of French, Spanish or German, particularly those who have some experience of teaching, for example as a Foreign Languages assistant.
We are an accredited provider of Initial Teacher Education and have been providing GTP training since 1998.

Our GTP is a nationwide programme with training centres in London, Sheffield and Birmingham and training schools in all the English regions. The CILT/British Council GTP is an employment based route where 'on-the-job' training in your school and regular training and advice from CILT is combined with day-to-day work in your school. |
The GTP programme takes one year.
Successful completion of the GTP leads to Qualified Teacher Status which qualifies you to teach in secondary schools in England.
