Teachers who trained outside the European Economic Area (EEA)
and who are not nationals of an EEA member state can work for up to
four years in England as a temporary teacher without the need for
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). If they wish to continue
teaching in England after this, they must obtain QTS.
The Overseas Trained Teacher Programme (OTTP) is a personalised
training and assessment programme which leads to QTS and allows
non-EEA teachers to be employed on a permanent basis in
England.
