Auxi Benitez, from Paraguay, had been working
as a Spanish language assistant in Leicester for three years before
beginning the CILT GTP in 2006. After gaining QTS, she got a job as
Spanish teacher at George Abbot School in Surrey, where she is now
Spanish and Community Languages Coordinator.
“The GTP was an excellent option and I personally believe that it
gave me all the tools I needed to excel in the
classroom.”
Before doing the CILT GTP in 2008-09, Hervé Gunot,
from Martinique, spent four years working as a teaching assistant
in France and the UK. He heard about the CILT GTP from a careers
advisor in London. After training at a CILT partnership school in
Shrewsbury, he now teaches French and economics at Queen’s Park
Community School, London. “The salary and the fact it was
open to native speakers both influenced my decision to choose the
CILT GTP”.
Julia Huh, from Germany, joined the 2009-10 CILT GTP
after completing her university studies in Hamburg. She chose the
programme because she wanted an employment based route, with plenty
of classroom experience. She did her training year at Crofton
School, Hampshire and now teaches German and Chinese at
Rainham Mark Grammar School in Kent. “I would
recommend the CILT GTP to ambitious, high-achieving and
conscientious graduates that are pursuing a teaching career in the
UK”.
