It is a requirement for teacher training in the UK that all
trainees have a good level of spoken and written English.
All shortlisted applicants for the CILT Languages GTP will be
assed in both spoken and written English if invited for
interview.
There is no formal qualification requirement in English for
applying to the CILT Languages GTP.
However, if you have one of the qualifications listed below, you
should indicate this by selecting "C or above
equivalent" under the "Secondary qualifications - English"
section of your online application, and by providing details of
your qualification in the "Other secondary qualifications" or
"Other qualifications" section of your online application as
appropriate.
- Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)
- Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE)
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall
band 6 or higher
- European Baccalaureate EFL pass
- Adult numeracy level 2 or higher
If you have GCSE English you should enter your grade in the
"Secondary qualifications - English" section of your online
application.
