Why choose the CILT Languages GTP?
- You are based in school all year so you get lots of valuable
school-based experience
- You have regular training sessions both at school and at CILT
Day Schools
- You are employed by your school for a year and get paid a
salary of £15,817 - £19,893*, depending on location
- As you are employed as an unqualified teacher, rather than as a
student, there are no fees to pay
- You can apply to train in a school where you have worked on a
paid/voluntary basis (for example as foreign language assistant),
or you can apply to be selected by a school
within our partnership network
- You are supported by an experienced language teacher at your
training school (your mentor), as well as by an experienced teacher
trainer at CILT (your tutor)
- You have access to CILT's wide range of resource materials and
extensive expertise as the National Centre for Languages
- You are awarded
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) to teach Key Stage 3 and 4 (11
to 16-year olds) on successful completion of the programme
- Trainees on the GTP for mother-tongue speakers of French,
German, Italian and Spanish will be supported to develop their
teaching in another language in addition to their mother
tongue
