  • All trainees are graduates. Many have Masters level qualifications
  • All trainees have a high level of spoken and written English
  • Most trainees have experience of teaching in England, their own country or another country
  • Schools may choose a trainee from among those pre-selected at interview by CILT, or may apply to train their own candidate
  • Most trainees on the GTP for mother-tongue speakers of French, German, Italian and Spanish offer a second teaching language in addition to their mother-tongue. All trainees on this programme offer French to at least elementary level.
